Alliteration

Teaching poetry to 5th graders can go both ways.  Some kids hate it and some kids  LOVE it.   My teaching partner teaches the Language Arts and Reading classes for our 5th grade team.  Poetry was in the curriculum plan. Kathy decided to work on alliterations with our three classes.  She found these cute little banners to showcase the alliterations.

These alliterations and illustrations hit the mark.

I love the expression on the whale's face.

Look at their little flippers!

    Poetry can be FUN!

Great job 5th graders!

I hope your students enjoy writing and appreciate poetry.

Please leave a short comment if you have a minute.  I'd love to read your thoughts.

konnichiwagrl cards

On Christmas Eve I was able to spend time with my family.  A good number of my nieces and nephews came to my brother-in-law's home for dinner. One of my nieces, who lives in New York City, was able to come home for the Christmas holiday.  She told us how she had been designing note cards that she sells on Etsy.

You can find these cute card designs and many others at konnichiwagrl  at her Etsy store.

My favorite is Smitten...

Mary Foldable

In my Religion class, we are talking about the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.  My students do really well making foldables to learn information on different topics.  The topic of "Mary the Mother of God" would be fantastic in this form!  Finding clip art was no problem. Here is what I came up with.  I copied the clip art on the front and the Title of the foldable on the back.

The next step was to add the important information to the inside flaps.

I gave a quick lesson on how to draw a vine with simple flowers.
These turned out very cute in their own special way.

The foldable was glued to a piece of loose leaf to safe storage in their duo-tang folders with the rest of their notes.

My students were very pleased about how nice their foldable turned out.
I have wonderful students who want to learn.  I am so very blessed.

Please leave a comment if you have a little time. I'd love to hear from you.
