Felt Faces

This has nothing to do with 5th grade. Though I was a preschool teacher many years ago.
My niece has two young boys who come to visit.  They like to play with my son and daughter's old Fisher Price toys.  I saw an idea for felt board faces on Pinterest a while ago and decided to make a set for the boys when they come to visit.  My future grandchildren will hopefully enjoy it, too. This is what I came up with.  It is very good for color and facial feature recognition as well as fine motor skills.  It could be used in a preschool or speech class as well.

I used Tacky glue to adhere the cream colored felt to a cardboard.
I made green, blue, and brown eyes to represent all the kids in our extended family.
And of course brown, blonde, and auburn hair.

A snowman is always a fun addition.  Now that I think about it, maybe I should make bunny ears and a little nose, too.
My children went to Michigan and Michigan State so I had to include their favorite headgear.

It all fits into a gallon ziplock bag for storage.

  1. Great idea! The boys will love those, and they look like they'll last a long time.
