Polar Bear Amigurumi

       Hello,  Mr. Polar Bear!

          Here is my newest Amigurumi creation!  A white polar bear with a red scarf.   He is ready for the cold weather wrapped in a cozy scarf.  This little guy is about four inches tall and about three inches wide.  You could say that he is on the chubby side.

         Mr. Bear is just waiting for someone to love, play , and sleep with.

    He was very easy to crochet using only single crochet stitches in the round.

If anyone would like the pattern for my Polar Bear, please let me know.

Teeny Crochet

Animals!

       My daugther gave me a crochet kit for Mother's Day.  It came with a book with 12 project patterns, yarn, a crochet hook, stuffing, floss, and a needle. She knows me so well. teeny tiny animal crochet  is the book by Kristen Rask. This book and it gave me a reall good start making Amigurumi.  I really enjoy making little items from yarn, felt, and stuffing. This was the perfect gift.

               This little guy is about only about 3 1/2 inches tall.

               My koala bear is about 5 inches tall with fluffy ears.

              Here is my little bear and the example in the pattern book.

      These little animals fit perfectly in a little child's hand.  So soft a with a friendly face become fast friends with your child.

            These two little whales are about 2 1/2 inches long and an inch and a half tall and so easy to make. they each have a cute little tail fin and tiny side fins.
You start with the gray yarn and then switch to white to complete his bell.

         Aren't these two bunny friends so cute?  I couldn't resist making the pink bunny after the brown bunny was finished.

     This little fellow has a tiny white stitch in the black portion for a little sparkle in his eye.

                             Here is a trio of puzzled pandas.

                   Chicks and ducks are having a friendly get together!

                                                         Meow! Meow! Meow!

      If you enjoy crochet, you will find making these small friends a fun project. Basic crochet stitches are all that is needed using a 4mm crochet hook. Included in the kit were black plastic safety eyes.  I chose not to use the safety eyes. Instead, I used black embroidery floss to stitch on the eyes just to be sure the eyes could not come off and become a choking hazzard.

        Crocheting these little stuffies are so easy and fun to make. If you can crochet in the round, this is a great quick gift for a child. I use up my scrap yarn so nothing goes to waste. By stitching the eyes instead of using the plastic eyes, these are an ideal toy for young children, too.

      This tiny sleepy friend is light pink and rose colored.

   My violet and pink friend  seems a little bashful.

   
        Each little owl has its  own characteristics and personality. Being 2 1/2 to 3 inches tall, they are fun to snuggle with and the right size to fit into a pocket or backpack.

Amigurumi Blanket Pals

        Crochet Amigurumi are so easy to make and have delightful personalities.  I enjoy creating these little guys so much.

       A square crocheted about eight or nine inches is quite simple.  You can use a single crochet or a double crochet to work the square.  When complete, I crocheted around the perimeter with a contrasting color to add some detail.

      The head was crocheted in the round starting with a magic circle.   A simple stitched face was add.  I do not use plastic eyes for safety reasons..

       Ears were added.  Long floppy ears for a rabbit or circle ears for a bear.   Next two little arms were added.  The blanket was folded down at one corner to make a collar.  The arms were stitched and secured under the collar and then the head was sewn in place.

       These little blanket friends have been made and given as a Christening gift for my grand nieces and nephews. A small handmade keepsake is always a thoughtful gift.

      I hope you enjoy viewing these little sweethearts.

        I just finished these two little penguins. An easy crochet project that a beginner who can work in the round should be able to complete easily.

    I like how their wings can be positioned in different ways.  The owner of these chilly birds can made them have many exciting adventures together.

    I hope your child or children have fun and experience an adventure with these chubby penguins.

Little Bear Amigurumi

                          Little Bear Amigurumi

     
      Amigurumi is the Japanese word meaning crocheted or  knitted stuffed animal .  Last year I received a Amigurumi kit and  and book for Mother's Day.  The  kit had a crochet hook, floss, needles, and an instruction manual.  Basically I became hooked, notice the pun, on these cute little stuffed toys.

 
    Here is my latest project, a cute little white bear with a yellow dress and bow.  She is about 4 inches tall, just the right size for a girl of any age. Not too big, not too small.  This small bear is the perfect size to fit into a pocket , purse or backpack.  She can be taken along on  outings day or night.  Polyfil stuffing was used to make her nice and plump.  So... This little friend can be easily washed and dried with no trouble at all. 

    I prefer to stitch the face on to my creations.  I have not used the safety eyes because I want to make sure the face doesn't accidentally come off for some reason.
