          We love to have our kids dip their hands in paint to make those cute little hand prints.  I thought it would be nice for my daughter and son-in-law to have a little hand of their child.  Daddy could keep it in his pocket, wallet, backpack, or brief case when he was at work or away from his precious child.  Mommy could keep this little keepsake in her purse, notebook, binder, bible, or wallet wherever she went.

       I started out by a simple outline of the child's hand. 

       The hand print was cut from felt. (Two hands were cut).  I hand stitched a small pink heart to the palm of the hand. Then the two hands were stitched together. You don't have to be proficient at sewing to make one.
       This one I added the year to the heart.

      One little hand for Mommy, and one little hand for Daddy. I made the hands for Valentine's Day gifts. 
     
      This is something that could be added to a baby book as a keepsake. Grandma would love to have one, too.  This could be a great beginner sewing project for a grade school child or for a Girl Scout sewing badge.

     These felt hands would be a simple gift to send to a mother or father who is in the military and has been deployed. Not too big, not too small.  Just the right size.  Your child's hand.

Heart Door Hanger

  Welcoming Hearts!

   

         Here is a little heart for that special child or friend in your life.  This soft heart is made from a small piece of pink felt, embroidery floss, a few seed beads, stuffing, and a six inch length of ribbon.

       Many, many years ago, a friend of mine had made both of my children heart door hangers with their name on the front.  This year I thought I would do the same for my granddaughters and grandsons. 

       The plan was to make the hearts out of felt, nut they looked rather plain.  So a few colorful seed  beads were added.  Don't you think they look like those candy hearts we give out for Valentine's Day?

          This heart is more boyish or patriotic with the blue grey star buttons. The contrast of the blue and white ribbon sets off the red heart perfectly.

          I  had these cute little bee buttons in my button supply.     They paired so well with the pink BEE HAPPY button. 


       So, if you need a quick little gift for someone you love, give this felt heart door hanger a try.

Valentine collection jug

     Valentine's Day

        Valentine's Day is coming soon.  The kids want to bring their Valentine's to school.  If the kids made Valentine bags in school from paper bags, they didn't take up a lot of room, but the bags weren't big enough to hold all the goodies. In addition, most of the bags ripped before the end of the day. 
Candy and cards were on the floor. The tears were flowing. I'm sure everyone has experienced this trauma.
    

        A plastic gallon milk jug was my perfect solution.  The gallon size holds all the Valentines.   My kiddos can carry their Valentines home on the bus without any problems.  

      My Valentine jug is very basic.  I just used a permanent marker.  My kids like to decorate theirs with all sorts of embellishments.  Doilies, stickers, felt, ribbon, etc.  Make sure you give the kids at least a week or two notice in order to design their creation and bring it to school.

Little Love Monsters

       My friend, Dawn, a second grade teacher put up these darling little 
          LOVE MONSTERS.

 

 Her second graders each designed one and wrote a short story. Each one is cuter than the next.  I couldn't resist taking pictures to share with everyone.
